"Hi Julie,
What do you think about men wearing womens jeans---I'm serious. Because I don't like the bagginess and roomy thighs of typical mens jeans. Normally a slim jean is not slim enough with many styles for me and I'm not really into the skinny jean. I'm a thin guy, about 6 feet tall and barely 150 and I was looking at a pair of 1921 jeans for women. It's stretch denim but does that matter with my physique? I appreciate your comments--thankyou. - Jeff"
Hi Jeff,
I think a woman's jean might give you the fit that you need in a jean, and a lot of men's jeans are not cut for a slimmer figure that wants a slim fit. Most men's jeans are 100% cotton which is probably what is creating the extra bagginess in the thighs; the woman's jeans mostly have 2-3% stretch to create a formfitting look. If you do not like a "skinny jean" I would just be careful of what is in the % of stretch that is in the woman's jean such as spandex or lycra, unless it is a woman's jean that is meant to be a relaxed fit through the thigh.
Men's jeans that have a stretch content will tend to be more form fitting through the thigh such as the 7 for all Mankind, Boot cut in the Fiji wash.
Best,
Julie

Probably one of the sharpest looking and fitting women's jeans styles I've purchased is the Lucky Brand Lil Maggie. It's a super low rise, but I've found that the lower the rise is, the tighter the fit can be and still be comfortable, and hence for a skinny guy they work (and look) really good. They are classified as coming with a "flare" leg, but they really are no different than an extreme boot leg of sorts. I've come to the conclusion that a baggy jean, especially for a skinny guy, looks better with a tapered leg similar to what existed in the very early 90's, but a tight-fit jean cuts a sharper silhouete in a bootcut or flare, and the style looks no different than what guys wore in the 70's. You can get some pretty good deals on ebay without having to actually go into a store and "announce" to the whole world that you're trying on (and possibly buying) women's jeans.

I am having a difficult time finding mens jeans that have stretch in the name brands. Generally I am a size 38 but now it seems a 40 is too big and a 38 is a bit snug and I really don't wanna wear a belt. I have tried some womans jeans with stretch, size 16 and they do feel comfortable but at the same time I don't want to look girly.

I never thought I would ever think of, or wearing womens jeans until a few weeks ago when I was finding myself constantly having to pull up the jeans I was wearing. It was not only the pair I was wearing, but all of the ones I own. Being rather reluctant, but finally had the courage to try the Flirt jeans from Old Navy. The fit and comfort is fantastic and can even wear them without a belt, without even being tight. They sit right on my hips, just where my old jeans always would up anyway. The only drawback I see is that I have to get use to the smaller pockets.

All my jeans are ladies. I'm 5'7" and 145. Use to love Levi's but they kept making the thigh wider and wider until they looked like English horse ridding pants on me. My wife started teasing me and telling me they looked stupid. One day I accidently picked up a pair of her size 8 boot cut jeans and put them on. I said, hey are these your jeans? She looked at me and said she thought so and said they fit me better than mine do.. So that's all I buy now. Levi for woman makes a 550 relaxed fit stretch, kind of low rise. The waist fits right at the hips so they don't really look like girls low rise jeans. I have to admit they are VERY comfortable, love the stretchiness a lot. The men's Levi jeans waist seams to be too high, not a comfortable placement at all. By the time you get a waist that fits the thighs will fit the Hulk. I also got some London low rise stretch jeans from Victoria's Secret. Now those are low rise but fit real well. As a matter of fact they make my butt look 10 years younger. My wife can't keep her hands off it. Oh well, if they fit and look good why not. Nobody can really tell their ladies jeans. And they way I figure I don't really care. Only problem now is to get underwear that fit better under them. Hummmm, should I do ladies low rise brief panties???? Would that be gay??? My wife suggested them, said they will be easier to manage putting on the pants better and won't show over the top of the jeans. She said the men's bikini underwear (banana hammock) would show too much of a..... bulge.
What to do??????

I have found that Lane Bryant Right Fit are great Jeans.
I just picked up some "NYDJ Tummy Tuck Jeans"
Wow they are very nice and comfy too.
Downside? Spendy
I got 2 pair from Nordstrom Rack for 1/2 off yesterday.
I have found that Women's Jeans fit better. I even like the stiching on the pockets of some now that Men's is starting to have that feature.

Hello,
I too wear womens jeans and found the Victorias Secret London jeans a great fit and are supper comfy. I then went to makeyourownjeans.com and made me a pair of the black pussy cat stretch jeans and they are the bomb. Fit and comfortable more than the VS London jeans. I am not a short guy at all, coming in at 6'2" and 200 lbs, but I perfer the tighter look of women jeans. If they fit and are comfy, wear them I'd say. I see more & more threads of guys wearing women jeans and had to try a pair. I like them & the fit, and I'm not gay. Even my wife likes them.
Every guy should try a pair, but maybe they don't have the balls.

Hi Christian,
Seven for all Mankind makes a great boot cut, simply called the "Relaxed" style. There will be extra room in the seat, hip, and thigh in this jean, so the size 38 should be perfect for you; keep in mind 7's ultra soft fabric gives out a bit with some wear, so as long as they fit in your waist if the jeans are a tad snug in the butt it's ok. Live in the jean for a few minutes it will form to your body.

i have a similar, issue but on the opposite ends of the scale. i like bootcut loose fitting jeans but they are hard to find for my particular body type. i am not slim. but i am not huge either. my waist would probably be about 1 36-38 depending on the time of year. my arse however is the problem. so i end up buying jeans that are waist 40 and up just so they get past my buttocks. then they end up not quite fitting right. just cos i am not slim, does not mean that i do not have any dress sense. i like to look good and want to be able to buy clothing that makes me feel good. so any recommendations?

Um, don't have to be under 165 lbs or so... Depends on your build - it's more a matter of proportions than weight. I'm 6'4" and 240 lbs, low-rise styles such as Levi's 504's and also those 'hip-hugger' cuts DO work well -- I've had good luck with the LEI "sophia" cut -- it's straighter cut in the hips and is practically unnoticable as "women's jeans" (unless they have the more 'feminine' rear pocket details.) Avoid the wider flare's and "ultra-flares" unless you add some other "60's style" items to play off the 'funky' appearance -- dust off those old disco platform shoes!
I've all but abandoned 'traditional' male jeans... Stiff, bulky, contricts the abdomen when sitting, blah, blah, blah. If anyone thinks it's odd, heck with it -- I prefer to be comfortable.

All jeans, pants for that matter, are menswear.

Hi, I think women's low rise on Men can work if you have a slender body and can wear a size 30 or less. I am a guy and all my jeans are womens low rise. I have never liked the fit of most men's jeans over the years. They come up way too high and are not that comfortable. Back in the 70's, they had low rise jeans for guys. They called them hip huggers. I was said to see them fade into black. I am 5" 10", 165lbs. Citizens fit great on me. So do the 1921's. My Lady friend loves them. Even the women at my favorite jean Shoppe tell me the womens low rise look great on me. I am a bit of a jean freak. I have tried most of the brands out there. Try to find jeans that do not pinch at the knees. Do not get the Sevens as they stretch out and lose their form after a couple of hours. Go for it. They will look and feel great.
